The Eagles are bringing in some competition for backup quarterback slots.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, and later confirmed by the team, the Eagles are signing QB Will Grier to a one-year deal.

Grier was drafted in the third round in 2019 by the Carolina Panthers, where he spent two seasons and started two games total, losing both. Grier was then claimed off waivers by the Dallas Cowboys, where current Eagles Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore was coaching at the time. He was also on the Los Angeles Chargers’ active roster last season after starting it on the New England Patriots’ practice squad.

Grier will be competing for a roster spot this offseason in the quarterback room, which already has Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee vying to back up Jalen Hurts. Regardless, Grier will help bridge the gaps and provide a voice who understands Moore’s schemes.
