Eagles to Play Commanders at 4:25 PM on January 4

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the Washington Commanders at 4:25 PM on January 4, according to an official release by the NFL.

The league made the announcement as part of the Week 18 game announcement that occurs after the Week 17 games conclude. With one game left to go in Week 17, that will not impact playoff standings, the league made the announcement.

The Eagles game is scheduled to play at the same time as the Chicago Bears’ regular season finale against the Detroit Lions. An Eagles win and a Bears loss would hand the Eagles the number two seed after the Eagles defeated the Buffalo Bills in Week 17 and the Bears fell to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.

The league intentionally delays setting the start times for Week 18 games so that the final week of the season has games with playoff implications played at prime times, and so that games that impact each other are played at the same time.

The marquee games of Week 17 are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Carolina Panthers, the Seattle Seahawks against the San Francisco 49ers, and the Baltimore Ravens against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buccaneers and Panthers are playing for the NFC South division title. The Seahawks and the 49ers are playing for the NFC West division title and the NFC’s number one seed, which comes with a first round bye. The Steelers and the Ravens are playing for the AFC North division title.
