Eagles to Play Chicago Bears with Win on Sunday

A win by the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers will send the Birds back to a familiar opponent for a rematch.

On Saturday night, the Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers in a nail-biting finish, after the Bears caused a complete collapse by the Packers on Saturday night in the second half of the game. With the Bears being the number 2 seed, the Eagles would face the Bears with a win on Sunday.

The NFL structures its games so that the number one seed will always play the worst remaining seeded team from the wild card round, so the remaining two teams would face each other. A Birds win would make the Los Angeles Rams the lowest remaining seed, sending the Tams to their division rival and the Birds to Chicago.

The last time the Eagles played the Bears was on Black Friday. The Bears won that matchup 24-15 after an abysmal performance by the Eagles offense. The last time the Eagles played the Bears in the playoffs resulted in the Eagles advancing to the divisional round after former Eagles kicker and then-Bears kicker Cody Parkey’s infamous “double doink” kick.
