Team USA’s women’s team is on a roll.

They’ve had 341 consecutive hockey minutes without allowing a single goal. The women outshot the Sweden team 34-23 to advance to the final round with a 5-0 score.

Team USA only had to kill two minutes of powerplay time. Their first goal came with an extra attacker due to a roughing penalty. The Americans conducted an all-out assault of Sweden on the ice in the first period, outshooting Sweden 13-2. Goalie Aerin Frankel for Team USA was unstoppable.

All scoring was completed by the end of the second period as Sweden found its defense and narrowed the shots on goal stat, getting eight shots in on goal to the USA’s ten, but the domination of the Americans was insurmountable for Sweden and they couldn’t find the net. Goaltending responsibilities were shared by Emma Soderberg and Ebba Svensson Traff, with the latter in for most of the game.

They now await the victor of this afternoon’s matchup between Canada and Switzerland. Canada finished in second place in group A after the preliminary rounds, just behind the Americans, and defeated Germany 5-1 in the quarterfinal round. Switzerland finished last in group A and defeated Finland 1-0 to get to the semifinals.
