The NFL announced today that Eagles Running Back D’Andre Swift was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2.

Swift, who had a breakout game as the Eagles’ leading running back in Thursday’s home opener against the Vikings, ran 28 times for 175 yards, including one touchdown. Swift accrued the most yards by an Eagles running back since LeSean McCoy accrued 217 yards on 29 attempts on December 8, 2013, the Snow Bowl game against the Detroit Lions.

Swift is the second Eagle to receive a Player of the Week honor this season. Eagles Kicker Jake Elliott received the honor for Special Teams following Week 1.

Speaking to reporters following Thursday’s game, Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni was thrilled with Swift’s performance

“It was pretty good, huh? He showed vision, explosiveness,” Sirianni observed. “Not only pleased with how he saw it and how he hit it, but also how he protected the ball, especially when they’re coming after it in situations at the end of the game like that.”

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts was also thrilled with the performance.

“He took advantage of the opportunity that he had and he had a career day,” Hurts commented. “I don’t know if he’s ever rushed for 175 [yards] but it was a hell of a job and we needed it from him.
