2024-Opponents

With the regular season in the books, the Eagles opponents during the 2024 season are locked in.

While the actual dates won’t be announced until May’s schedule release, the NFL scheduling procedures are formulaic when it comes to opponents. Teams face off against the other teams in their division twice a season — once at home and once on the road. For the Eagles, that means they face off against the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders twice per season.

Additionally, according to NFL scheduling procedures, the Eagles will face off against two complete divisions next season, one from each conference. These divisions rotate on a schedule by division, so all teams in a division will face at least eight of the same teams. The NFC East teams will face off against the NFC South and the AFC North teams in 2024. Two teams apiece will be at home and two will be on the road.

The NFC South was widely regarded as the worst division in the NFL during the 2023 season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the division with a 9-8 record, and needed a tiebreaker to do it over the New Orleans Saints who also finished 9-8. The Atlanta Falcons finished third in the division at 7-10. The division also holds the Carolina Panthers, which finished 2023 with the worst record in the NFL at 2-15.

Conversely, the AFC North was one of the most competitive in the league during the 2023 season. The Baltimore Ravens, with a record of 13-4, clinched the top seed in the AFC Playoffs in 2023. The Cleveland Browns finished with the same record as the Eagles did at 11-6. The Pittsburgh Steelers were third in the division at 10-7 and the Cincinnati Bengals finished 9-8 after losing Joe Burrow to a season-ending injury.

The remaining teams in the schedule are determined by where the Eagles finish in the preceding season. For the Eagles, as second place finishers in the NFC East, they will face off against other teams that finished second in their divisions within the NFC. The Green Bay Packers finished second in the NFC North, and the Los Angeles Rams finished second in the NFC West. The Eagles will face both of those teams next season, one at home and one on the road.

Finally, the Eagles will face off against a team from the AFC that also finished second in the division. This season, that is the AFC South’s second-place finisher, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
