Julio-Jones

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Wide Receiver Julio Jones on Tuesday, according to Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro.

Jones, who is a free agent after spending last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was drafted in 2011 by the Atlanta Falcons with the sixth overall pick in that draft, playing for them for 10 seasons. Jones, now in his 13th season in the NFL, has had two seasons in the last five years with more than 1,000 receiving yards. He led the league three times in yards per game, in 2015 (116.9), 2016 (100.6), and 2018 (104.8). In that 2015 season, Jones also led the league in receptions (136) and total yards (1,871). Jones is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2010s, among other accolades.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jones technically signed to the practice squad.

The Eagles placed WR Quez Watkins on Injured Reserve prior to their Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets after Watkins sustained a hamstring injury and did not participate in Friday’s practice, so there is an opportunity in the wide receiver room to plug Jones in, though exactly how he is plugged in is not yet clear.

Jones signed a one year deal with the Eagles, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He will be reunited with former teammate AJ Brown, with whom he played on the Titans during the 2021-22 season.
