Eagles Sign Oren Burks

A low-key signing on Saturday occurred to provide additional depth in the defensive backfield.

Former San Francisco 49ers LB Oren Burks signed a one-year deal worth a reported $2.5 million, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Burks spent most of his time on special teams for the 49ers, but did have a combined 45 tackles and one sack during the 2023 regular season. In the Eagles’ matchup against the 49ers in 2023, Burks had four combined tackles, just one half of which came on a special teams play. Burks was drafted in 2018 by the Green Bay Packers, where he had 100 combined tackles and half a sack over his five seasons with them, including the postseason.

This move amounts to a “prove it” deal for Burks, who comes to a team which needs any help possible at linebacker.
