The Philadelphia Eagles announced that the iconic Kelly Green jerseys will go on sale on Monday, July 31, at all three Pro Shop locations starting at 9 AM.

An Eagles spokesperson confirmed that the jerseys will also go on sale online at the online Pro Shop at that time.

The jerseys, which are evocative of the Eagles’ history and were the style for most of the Eagles’ tenure since 1933, have experienced significant hype from fans over the years. The color was discontinued in 1996 in favor of the midnight green the Eagles currently use, and absent one game in 2010 where the uniform was worn to honor the 50th anniversary of the 1960 NFL Championship Game, the team has not used the color since.

In response to fan interest, Eagles Chariman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie wanted to bring the color back, but NFL rules restricted the number of helmets teams could use. The Eagles did not want to use the Kelly Green jerseys, which are a lighter shade of green, with the darker midnight green helmet. In June 2021, the NFL approved a change to allow for a second helmet effective with the 2022 season, but it took time for the uniform to get developed.

Speaking at the NFL Annual Meeting in March, Lurie was excited that this could happen for the fans.

“I think the fans will love it,” Lurie smiled. “It’s why we’re bringing it back. We really took the feedback seriously over the years.”

Fans will be able to purchase the jerseys at the Eagles Pro Shop at Lincoln Financial Field, along with the two satellite locations at the Shops at Rockvale in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Market Place at Garden State Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They will also be available through the team’s official online store, which is run by Fanatics.

While the uniforms will go on sale on Monday, it is unknown when the team will actually use the jerseys. Midnight green is still the official color, so the uniforms will be used as alternate uniforms. NFL rules allow for alternate uniforms to be worn three times over the season, with a maximum of two alternate uniforms beyond the traditional standard home uniform and the white color, typically used by teams on away games. Teams that make the playoffs can wear alternates once during the playoffs. The Eagles have not announced when the color will be worn on the field and may not do so until closer to the actual games.
