Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the 2022 NFL MVP award.

This is Mahomes’ second time in five years winning the award, having last won in 2018. Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens won in 2019 and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers won in 2020 and 2021.

The award, presented at the annual NFL Honors event during Super Bowl week, is voted on by a nationwide panel of football media members, who rank contenders for first, second, and third place. Mahomes won 48 out of 50 first place votes.

One of the MVP hopefuls this year was Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who received one first place vote. The last first place vote was received by Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen.

Though players and coaches were in the running for other awards, no Eagles team member or staff won any of the awards presented at the NFL Honors this evening in Phoenix. Hurts, who was also up for Comeback Player of the Year, was snubbed here too in favor of Genius Smith, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. Shane Steichen came in third place for Assistant Coach of the Year. Haason Reddick finished third in Defensive Player of the Year.

Though the Eagles were not recognized with any individual awards, the most important award, the Lombardi Trophy, is still up for grabs. The Eagles play Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday for the title.
