Roster Moves: Eagles Reach Reserve/Future Deals With Practice Squad Free Agents
This afternoon’s player transaction list included a litter of reserve/future deals with practice squad players by the Eagles.
The Eagles came to terms with Devon Allen (WR), Tyrie Cleveland (WR), Mario Goodrich (DB), Tarron Jackson (DE), Fred Johnson (T), Roderick Johnson (T), Matt Leo (DE), Sua Opeta (G), and Davion Taylor (LB).
The only two of these players that saw any play time during the regular season were Opeta and Jackson. Opeta, who played at guard for the first eight weeks of the season, netted a 38.1 grade from PFF in 92 offensive snaps, allowing 3 pressures. He was waived on January 6, 2023 before being signed to the practice squad on January 9, 2023 after clearing waivers.
Jackson was on the active roster for the first six weeks of the 2022-23 season but logged zero stats. He was released on October 26, 2022 before being resigned to the practice squad on October 29 after clearing waivers.
With retirement possibilities looming for some tenured players like Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson, having some depth on the offensive line would be beneficial. Most of the players that terms were reached for are offensive linemen, though there are a lot of unknowns in this crew.
The Eagles have 18 players who are set to become free agents on March 15, including seven offensive and defensive linemen. As of the evening of February 10, the Eagles have just over $7.3 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com, that they can play with to extend, resign, or draft new players.
