Pro-Bowl-Roster

The NFL announced today that six Philadelphia Eagles players made the Pro Bowl rosters.

AJ Brown, Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Haason Reddick, and D’Andre Swift are all on the Pro Bowl roster for the NFC, according to the official statement. This follows a period of open voting by fans, along with voting by coaches and players. The NFL is the only professional sports league to utilize all three parties to determine its all star rosters.

Five of the six players come from the Eagles’ offense, which is reflective of how the offense has played this season, especially of late. Reddick was the lone defensive player to make the cut.

Players selected for the Pro Bowl now participate in the Pro Bowl Games during the week between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl. Players convene on Thursday for a skills competition, and then spend the week preparing for the culminating flag football game on the Sunday before the Super Bowl. Players who are selected for the Pro Bowl but whose teams participate in the Super Bowl the following week are exempted from the Pro Bowl.

The Pro Bowl Games occur on February 4, 2024 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Pro Bowl selection remains an honor even if the player does not participate.

Introduced in 2023, the flag football game replaces the full-contact exhibition football game that was originally the Pro Bowl. Declining fan interest, players opting out due to fears of injury, and a decline in gameplay led to changing the format of the Pro Bowl over the last decade, culminating in the introduction of flag football last season. The switch also brought on former quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Eli Manning to coach the AFC and NFC, respectively. Peyton’s company Omaha Productions collaborates with the NFL to produce the Pro Bowl games.
