The Team USA Mixed Doubles duo of Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin made the Curling Semi-Finals after defeating Sweden in the Round Robin 8-7.
The American duo from Duluth, MN held it close to the Swedes early, but took a dominating lead in the fourth and fifth ends and at one point led 7-4. Sweden’s team of Isabella Wranaa and Rasmus Wranaa came back in the sixth and seventh ends to tie it up after Team USA again failed to benefit from its powerplay. In the final end, though, Cory and Korey held on to secure the game point.
Thiesse and Dropkin rebounded from a two-game losing streak to beat Estonia earlier today, and their second win of the day over Sweden means that the team has qualified for the playoff round. The team has a 6-2 record and the 2 seed going into the final game of round robin play tomorrow against Italy, which currently holds the 3 seed.
