First Pre-Super Bowl Injury Report Littered with Names as Eagles Rest Players

Injury-Report

The first injury report in preparation for Super Bowl LVII was released this afternoon, and it was a long one.

Neither the Eagles nor the Chiefs actually held practice on Wednesday, so it was an estimation of what might’ve actually happened if practice actually occurred. Yet the injury report was full of Eagles and Chiefs players in spite of this.

On the Eagles’ side of the football, Landon Dickerson (elbow), Lane Johnson (groin), Cam Jurgens (hip), Avonte Maddox (toe), and Robert Quinn (foot) were all listed as nonparticipants. None of them were listed as sidelined because of the injury itself, but all were listed as nonparticipants because they were being rested.

On the Chiefs side, several players were listed as nonparticipants, including WR Mecole Hardman (pelvis), WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), and WR Kadarius Toney (ankle, hamstring). CB L’Jarius Sneed (concussion) was also listed as a nonparticipant.

The Chiefs also had LB Willie Gay (shoulder), G Trey Smith (ankle) listed as limited in practice, and several others listed as full participants, including QB Patrick Mahomes.

Obviously having a full injury report is concerning to Eagles fans, especially with so many big players sidelined. Because they were being rested, though, and not tending to an injury itself, there isn’t too much cause for concern. The advantage to playing in the Super Bowl is that players have an extra week to rest up and recover before the final game of the year. Since these guys are key contributors, it will be important to ensure that the Eagles are fully rested and ready to go for their flight to Phoenix and the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
