NFL YouTube Creator Tom Grossi will be visiting Philadelphia on June 7, 2023 to highlight the Philadelphia Eagles fanbase.

Grossi, known for his Packast podcast covering the Green Bay Packers, regular fan reaction videos to NFL games and notable events, and his Coach web series, makes this visit as a part of a summer “30 in 30” tour of all 30 NFL cities with the goal of raising $100,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“This is not just a stadium tour,” Grossi remarked in his video announcing the initiative. Instead, he views this as “bringing together every team, every city, every fanbase to celebrate the sport we all love.”

A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, Grossi, whose eponymous YouTube channel boasts more than 475,000 subscribers, began his tour in Green Bay, Wisconsin on May 30. At press time, Grossi has raised over $75,000 for St. Jude either through his channel or his fundraising link hosted by St. Jude, and has so far visited Green Bay, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, and Cleveland, releasing videos highlighting his visits to the first three.

Grossi has not accepted any sponsorships for the tour, and is self-funding the trip. The NFL provided Grossi a modicum of support in connecting him with teams, but Grossi has not received any remuneration from the NFL or its teams for this endeavor.

Though Grossi is unsure of how his project will be received, he is excited for this project to come to fruition and tries to keep his focus on why he’s doing the visit in the first place.

“There are a lot of nerves here, and I don’t know how this is going to go,” Grossi confessed in a video released the morning of his Green Bay visit. “There’s possibilities that this does not do well, that this flops, that it doesn’t get many views, but I know that we’re going to raise a ton of money.”

Grossi’s structure for his visit to Philadelphia presently includes two public events. One will occur in the vicinity of the sports complex in South Philly, likely outside of Lincoln Financial Field, and will feature an opportunity for fans to be part of a video Grossi will release on his channel. While the time of the meetup will not be known until June 7 due to travel, Grossi shared that it would be in the late morning or early afternoon. Grossi’s stadium events for most cities to this point have occurred around 1 PM, but this may change or be cancelled due to safety issues or other logistical reasons. Grossi intends to spend at least one hour in front of Lincoln Financial Field.

“Come dressed in your gear, in your jerseys,” Grossi requested in an informational video he released on his channel. “It’ll be an awesome way to show off your fandom.”

The second public event will occur in the late afternoon or evening, and has begun between 6-8 PM in most cities he’s visited to this point. Grossi will hold a pop-up event at a small business local to Philadelphia, which could be a brewery, bar, candle shop, nonprofit, or community space. When the event begins, Grossi will begin live-streaming to his YouTube channel from the location, and the first person to find him will receive a prize. Prizes in other cities have included gift cards to the local team’s pro shop, local team merch, and a charcoal sketch done by a local sketch artist. Though the livestream will end after the first person finds him, Grossi will continue the event for at least an hour afterwards.

Grossi dubbed this evening event an “In Real Life Raid,” and noted that the idea is drawn from a practice he does on his channel during his livestreams of NFL games.

“At halftime, we do something called raids,” Grossi explained. “I find smaller creators and I send the community over there to show lots of love and support, give them donations and subscribers. Well I thought, what if we just did that in real life?”

Grossi, who has been planning this project since mid-February, said that the purpose of these evening meetups is to support local businesses.

“Whether it’s buying a drink, buying a candle, sitting down and having a small meal,” Grossi said, “[we’ll be] helping out local communities, small businesses, and spreading as much good as humanly possible.”

The Philadelphia Phillies play at Citizens Bank Park on June 7 at 6:05 PM. It’s unknown at this time how the Phillies game will impact Grossi’s plans for Philadelphia.

Grossi said that the structure of his visit is primarily to highlight what makes Eagles fans an incredible fan base while simultaneously spreading what he affectionately refers to as “chaotic good.”

“I really wanted this entire endeavor to help others,” Grossi added, “and I really think that with helping St. Jude of course with the fundraiser and helping out these local small businesses, it’s going to show the greatness of each city, the people within it, the fans, and just support others.”

Grossi urges Eagles fans wanting to participate to stay connected to his social media channels, @tomgrossicomedy on Twitter and Instagram, where he will announce more details as they are known. Grossi will tie all of his meetups and other highlights of his visit into a video that will be released on his channel on June 9.

Fans who can’t attend either public event in Philadelphia can still donate to force Grossi to perform stunts in other cities he visits, such as dressing as the mascot for the Jacksonville Jaguars when he visits Jacksonville or skyjumping in Las Vegas. Grossi also urges fans unable to donate to share the initiative to raise awareness.

Grossi, who has never been to Philadelphia before, is excited to do this for Eagles fans.

“I am going on this trip of a lifetime to bring you the best content that I can,” Grossi said, “and I hope that you’ll be there with me.”
