Seven Eagles Place In NFL Top 100 List

NFL-Top-100

Seven Eagles players were voted by NFL players as the top 100 players in the National Football League.

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts placed the highest among Eagles players, ranked at number 3 overall. Hurts was only beat out by Vikings Wide Receiver Justin Jefferson and Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Also making the list were Wide Receiver AJ Brown (22nd), Center Jason Kelce (37th), Tackle Lane Johnson (41st), Linebacker Haason Reddick (48th), Corner Darius Slay (65th), and Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith (100th).

The list is compiled annually by the NFL through an offseason poll of players throughout the league. All active players for the upcoming season are eligible for the list, as well as those on reserve lists with the potential to be returned to the active roster. Players who retire prior to the season are ineligible to make the list.

Brown, speaking to the media after Tuesday’s practice, acknowledged that he was proud of Hurts’ ranking as a friend, but it wasn’t the recognition they were seeking.

“As a teammate, I think nobody cares, and he doesn’t care either” Brown said. “We’re excited for him and all the recognition he gets and everything, but just like him we’re trying to stay focused on the task at hand.”

There’s something to be said for Hurts viewing this as a distraction and trying to limit its impact. Hurts revealed earlier in camp that he had turned down opportunities to be featured on the Netflix series Quarterback, indicating that the timing didn’t feel right.

“I didn’t feel it was appropriate for the year, so I turned down the opportunity to be on it,” shared Hurts.

The team continues training camp this week in preparation for the first preseason game of the year on Saturday in Baltimore against the Ravens.
