Eagles Can Clinch Playoffs During Week 13
The Philadelphia Eagles can become the first team to clinch the playoffs during Week 13.
To do that, they’ll need to beat or tie the San Francisco 49ers and get some help from some other teams, according to the official announcement from the NFL. There is no scenario this week where the Eagles could clinch a playoff berth if they lose to the 49ers.
The most straightforward way is for the Eagles to win and Los Angeles Rams to lose this week. The Rams, who are 5-6, face off against the 7-4 Cleveland Browns, so this is feasible.
If the Rams win or tie, the other alternative if the Eagles win would be help from the NFC North. If the 8-3 Detroit Lions lose to the 5-6 New Orleans Saints and the 5-6 Green Bay Packers lose to or tie the 8-3 Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles would also clinch a playoff berth. Given the Lions’ opponent this week, this is significantly less likely.
If the Eagles tie the San Francisco 49ers, they could also clinch a playoff berth, but they’d need a lot of help. The Rams would have to lose, the Packers would have to lose or tie, and either the 5-6 Atlanta Falcons would have to lose to or tie the 4-7 New York Jets or the Saints would have to lose or tie the Lions.
