Eagles to Host Cowboys in 2025 Kickoff Game
The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Kickoff Game on September 4, 2025.
The announcement comes ahead of the NFL Schedule Release event, which will occur on May 14 at 8 PM. The Eagles, by virtue of their Super Bowl championship, host the first game of the season. The last time the Eagles hosted the NFL Kickoff game, Nick Foles led the Eagles to an 18-12 victory over the Atlanta Falcons in a rematch of their Divisional Round matchup the previous postseason.
The Eagles and Cowboys will face each other for the first time in September since 2021; this game also marks their first Week 1 encounter since 2000. In that game, the Eagles got things started with a surprise onside kick which caught the Cowboys off guard, was recovered by Dameane Douglas, and ended in a 41-14 Eagles victory. The Eagles would go on to make the playoffs for the first time since 1996. In 2024, the Eagles swept the Cowboys in the season series, outscoring them 75-13.
The game will be broadcast on NBC, as the Kickoff Game is outside of the league’s Thursday Night Football package awarded to Prime Video.
The Schedule Release is often viewed by teams as a chance to allow their social media teams to shine. Teams often put out social media videos with the hopes of those videos going viral.
