The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is seeking medal designs for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
“Last time, we had more than 3,000 submissions,” said Christian Klaue, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Director for the IOC, “and we would hope for at least that many this time.”
The medal design competition is a way for artists to have an impact on the games. Artists are provided resources by the IOC and can submit one design. The winning design, which will be chosen by a panel of young athletes, young reporters, and Dakar 2026 officials, will be cast in gold, silver, and bronze on the front of the medal. The back of the medal will be designed by the Dakar 2026 Organizing Committee.
Artists and anyone who wants to submit a design can download the template from the IOC website. Entries will be considered regardless of nationality, but entrants must be 18 or older or have reached the age of majority in the country in which they reside. Submissions will also be completed through a portal on the IOC website.
The 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar continues an initiative that was begun in 2010 as a way to foster enthusiasm for athletics and sports among youth. Athletes at the Youth Olympic Games are between 15 and 18 years old and compete in various sports and disciplines.
