Eagles Trade CJ Gardner-Johnson to Texans for Kenyon Green
The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly traded CJ Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans for G Kenyon Green.
According to ESPN, the deal also includes a pick swap, with the Eagles getting a 2026 fifth-round pick and the Texans getting a 2026 sixth-rounder.
Gardner-Johnson acknowledged the trade on social media on Tuesday.
“This decision wasn’t mine, but I walk away proud of what we built together,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “To my teammates: Brothers, we bled, cursed, and laughed through it all. To the coaches and front office: Thank you for trusting a kid from Florida with a chip on his shoulder to lead this defense. And to the Philly Faithful — you’re unmatched. You embraced my edge and fire, for this game even when I got too hot.”
CJGJ had 59 combined tackles during the regular season, along with six interceptions and a forced fumble. He also had 14 combined tackles throughout the postseason, including three combined tackles for the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
Meanwhile, the Eagles’ offensive line gets some depth with the trade for Green, who started 23 games over his career with the Texans but struggled in 2024 protecting CJ Stroud and was benched. Green now comes to Stoutland University which should hopefully provide some added skill training for him to develop as a lineman.
