MCurl021426

The men’s curling team, led by captain Danny Casper, got out to a fast start and never looked back.

Team USA scored four points in the first end of their round robin matchup against Germany to take a 4-0 lead. Germany and the USA would go back and forth for the next several ends, but USA would not relinquish the lead. Germany got closest in the eighth end with a 7-6 total, but the USA extended the lead to 8-6. Casper led the team to a defensive stand in the 10th end, when the Americans would clear away German-thrown stones. Despite having the final hammer, Germany was unable to secure the two points needed to force extra ends and conceded the match on the final throw.

Casper and his teammates had a combined 84% shot accuracy in the game, with most success coming on takeout shots.

Team USA is now 2-2 in round robin play and sits tied for sixth place with Germany by win percentage. Only the top four teams advance to the semi-finals. There are five games remaining for the Americans to try to rise up in the standings.
