The Philadelphia Eagles welcomed the Cleveland Browns to the NovaCare Complex on Monday evening. The two teams are spending the week together for joint practice sessions and will conclude their time together with a preseason game on Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field.

The practice was a homecoming of sorts for many involved. Browns Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz was part of the Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII. Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman hugged Schwartz following the practice. Rodney McLeod, safety for the Browns, was also on that Super Bowl-winning Eagles team and reconnected with players following the practice.

Reports from the field at the NovaCare Complex were that the offense had its worst day so far. The Athletic’s Bo Wulf referred to the day as “humbling” for the offense.

Standouts in the Eagles’ offense were Joseph Ngata, who continued his stellar training camp and preseason performance with a great catch from Marcus Mariota, and Olamide Zacchaeus, who had a touchdown off of a Jalen Hurts throw. Getting second team reps was Tyrie Cleveland, who continued to build off of his preseason performance with a great pass in tight coverage, according to beat reporters.

Conversely, the Eagles’ offensive line got beat several times in drills by Browns defenders. Notably, Cam Jurgens was beat by Dalvin Tomlinson, and Jordan Mailata committed an obvious holding penalty on Myles Garrett, according to beat reporters. Jason Kelce was also pushed deep into the offensive backfield by Tommy Togiai.

Landon Dickerson left practice early due to an undisclosed injury.

The defense tended to fare much better in practice than the offense did. Sydney Brown got first team reps with Reed Blankenship. Jalen Carter continued to build off of his performance on Saturday with two would-be sacks and a fumble recovery, and his number was reportedly called many times according to Eagles beat reporters. Josh Sweat also had a would-be sack.

The Eagles and Browns practice together again on Tuesday evening before Thursday’s preseason game at Lincoln Financial Field.
