The Regular Season for the Eagles opens on the road in Foxborough, MA against the New England Patriots. While the Patriots honor Tom Brady, the Eagles hope to rain on the Patriots’ celebration, and not just like it’s raining weather-wise. Follow our page here for updates.

Eagles Inactives:

First Quarter

  • Eagles started with the ball. After a solid run by Gainwell, a rare bad snap occurred that Hurts fell on in the backfield. It was nullified by a Patriots offside. The Eagles recovered quickly and moved the ball to the 8 yard line. They stalled out in Patriots territory and after the Patriots sent Jadon uncovered to sack Hurts, Jake Elliott kicked the first field goal of the season. Eagles 3, Patriots 0
  • Mac Jones took over and was able to convert several first downs on some solid runs from Ty Montgomery, and Ezekiel Elliott, and got 13 passing yards. The Eagles were able to get some pressure. Ultimately, the Patriots got to the Eagles’ 42 yard line. Jones threw to Bourne but the pass was tipped and picked by Darius Slay! Seventy yards later, Slay had stayed in bounds for a Touchdown! Elliott with the PAT. Eagles 10, Patriots 0
  • After getting the ball back on their own 25, the handoff went to Zeke who fumbled! Recovered by Cunningham!
  • The Eagles took over at the 26 yard line. Kenny Gainwell’s runs and AJ Brown got the ball back inside the 10. Hurts was sacked but it was once again nullified by a Patriots penalty. Hurts threw to DeVonta Smith for a Touchdown! Elliott’s PAT was no good. He missed twice on 53 attempts last year. Eagles 16, Patriots 0
  • The kickoff was returned for 43 yards from the Patriots one yard line. Not a good showing. But the Patriots stalled, with a three and out, and punted it away. Caught by Covey and ran out at the Eagles’ 16.
  • The Eagles went three and out after a pass to Swift and a run by Hurts, both for no gain, and an incomplete pass to AJ Brown, broken up by Uche. The quarter ended before Arryn Siposs could step up to punt.

Second Quarter

  • Arryn Siposs punted. Hang time was an unofficial 4.66 seconds. It was a 50 yard punt that was fielded by Marcus Jones at the New England 32 and ran out of bounds at the Eagles’ 47. Ugh.
  • The Patriots were held to a 3 and out. They punted away 36 yards, fair caught at the Eagles 8.
  • The Eagles got three yards before Siposs punted away again. This one went 45 yards and Marcus Jones caught it before being mauled by Sydney Brown. Much better.
  • The Patriots, starting at their own 43, had another three and out after a loss of a yard by Zeke and a six yard pass to Bourne. Third down featured a dropped pass by a wide open JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Pats punted away, fielded by Covey who brought it to the Eagles’ 15.
  • Another three and out by the Eagles after getting three yards off of a Boston Scott run. But another hard hit on Marcus Jones, this time by Josh Jobe.
  • The Patriots break the three and out streak with a pass to an open Gesicki. Jones then threw a bomb that should’ve been picked by Slay except he couldn’t hold onto it. They then marched down the field with an up tempo offense. Jones connected with Henry for their first score. PAT is good. Eagles 16, Patriots 7
  • Another three and out by the Eagles after a questionable chop block call on Landon Dickerson nullified a pass to AJ Brown that would’ve been a first down. It appeared he fell into the Patriots’ defensive lineman after tripping over Jason Kelce’s foot. Siposs punted the ball away and it was a 52 yard boot, nullified by an Eagles favorite, Ineligible Man Downfield. The second punt was fielded 10 yards closer. Hang time unofficially 4.66 seconds.
  • The Patriots lost two yards into the two minute warning and had two 10+ yard receptions. Then an offsides by Josh Sweat set up an 8 yard run by Mac Jones. Two plays later, Jones connected with Bourne for a 19 yard touchdown. A Bill Belichick special, scoring before halftime. Where is the life in this Eagles team? Eagles 16, Patriots 14
  • Gainwell runs for 3 yards to send the game to halftime. Patriots get the ball to start the second half.

Third Quarter

  • The Patriots started at their own 25 and had a three and out. They had six yards on the ground before the ball was thrown to Boutte. He caught the ball but couldn’t bring his right foot down in bounds. Barringer booted the ball 65 yards but Britain Covey got 25 of that back.
  • The Eagles got off to their own great start, but a holding penalty by Jordan Mailata killed that midway into the Patriots territory. Questionable play calling as the Eagles called a run by Gainwell on 3rd and 20. Fortunately Elliott was in range halfway through the flight to Foxborough as he drilled a 56 yard field goal. Eagles 19, Patriots 14
  • The Patriots got the ball at the 25 and marched into Eagles territory. It had the makings of very bad news until a series of penalties by New England pushed them into 3rd and 21. They lost yards, ending up at the Eagles 43. Barringer’s punt went into the end zone for a touchback.
  • The Eagles were back to moving the ball down the field. DeVonta Smith continues to be the favorite receiver of the game. On 3rd and 5, Hurts ran to pick up the first down. DeVonta Smith picked up another first down, and with the Eagles in New England territory, the game went to the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter

  • Hurts started by overthrowing AJ Brown in double coverage. A bunch of bad reads as Hurts missed Smith and Goedert. Jake Elliott’s 48 yard kick was off the left upright but still good. Eagles 22, Patriots 14
  • The Patriots moved the ball on their own, helped by an awful hit on Mac Jones by Williams that drew a roughing penalty and put the Pats in Eagles territory. The Eagles put the Pats into 4th and 8, but the Pats went for it and an open Henry pulled in a miracle ball that was almost overthrown. On 3rd and five, Cox dropped Zeke for no gain and the Pats went for it again. Cox got to Jones again on 4th down, forcing a turnover on downs.
  • The Eagles started at their own 17. An awesome throw to AJ Brown for 48 yards was challenged and reversed. The Eagles still got to the 33 yard line, helped by a holding penalty. Jake Elliott made it a 2 score game. Eagles 25, Patriots 14
  • The Patriots made the Eagles defense look like a pinball machine with spin moves and poor tackling. They scored a touchdown, on a pass to Bourne. The Pats went for two, initially good but a holding penalty called it back. The second time was almost picked and no good. Eagles 25, Patriots 20
  • A squib kick got the Eagles to start at their own 27. Hurts ran for eight yards, but was hit as he went down and fumbled. The ball shot forward several yards and was recovered by New England at the Eagles 41. Oh no.
  • The Patriots went nowhere on three plays. A delay of game on 4th down brought up 4th and 17. The throw was incomplete. Eagles ball.
  • The Eagles moved the ball eight yards. Then the two minute warning. The Eagles went for it on 4th and 2 from the Pats 44, and Hurts missed Smith. Uh oh.
  • The Pats once again have little trouble moving the ball. Jones ran and threw down to the Eagles 19 before he was sacked. Two plays later, on fourth down, he threw a strike to Boutte that was initially ruled a catch. Replay showed he was out of bounds with the second foot, and the call was reversed. Turnover on downs. EAGLES WIN!
  • Victory formation to close the game out.

Final: Eagles 25, Patriots 20
