NFL Announces Week 18 Schedule, Eagles Play in Late Afternoon
The NFL announced the Week 18 schedule, and confirmed the Eagles will face off against the Giants in the 4:25 slot on Sunday afternoon.
The game, which will air on CBS, airs at the same time as the Dallas Cowboys’ matchup with the Washington Commanders. The Eagles need the Commanders to win in order to have a chance at the NFC East title following the Eagles’ loss to the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.
The NFL intentionally does not announce the Week 18 schedule until the conclusion of the Week 17 games. The league wants to make sure that primetime games that are played have playoff implications, and other games are scheduled so that as many teams as possible do not rest starters for the game during the final week.
The primetime games this week mostly air on Saturday January 7. The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30. That game will be followed by the Houston Texans taking on the Indianapolis Colts at 8:15. Both games will air on ESPN/ABC.
The Colts currently occupy the last seed in the AFC playoff bracket. They must win against the Texans to keep that spot as the Texans, Steelers, and Colts have the same record.
The last game of the regular season is a matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Both teams are in the playoffs but the winner of this game wins the AFC East.
