Eagles Offseason Workout Dates Announced
The Eagles begin their preparation to defend their Super Bowl victory on April 21, with organized team activities beginning on May 27, according to a league announcement.
The NFL publicized the timeline for the offseason workout program dates for all 32 NFL teams this afternoon. The offseason workout program, part of the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), is a nine week offseason program that consists of three phases. Phase 1 runs two weeks and consists of meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation. Phase 2 begins at week three and runds for three weeks. At this phase, individual drills may occur along with certain other scenarios. Phase 3 consists of the last four weeks of the program and is where organized team activities, also called OTAs, occur. Teams can run 7-on-7s, 9-on-9s, and 11-on-11s during this phase, though contact is not permitted.
The program is predominantly voluntary, though teams may hold a mandatory minicamp for veterans late in the program. Teams with new head coaches can also hold a voluntary veteran minicamp before the NFL Draft. Additionally, teams conduct a seven week rookie development program beginning on May 12, as well as a rookie minicamp shortly after the NFL Draft.
For the Eagles, they begin their offseason program on April 21. OTAs occur this year on May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, and June 5. Though it was not always present during Nick Sirianni’s tenure as a head coach, the Eagles are returning the veteran minicamp which will conclude the offseason workout program on June 10.
