Nick Sirianni finalized his coaching staff in advance of the NFL Combine.
In addition to Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore and Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio, the Eagles brought in seven new assistant coaches to fill holes and supplement the Eagles coaching staff. The list’s most notable name is Doug Nussmeier, who joins Moore’s offense as the quarterbacks coach and has followed him around since 2019. Nussmeier is a former NFL quarterback who was a backup for the New Orleans Saints in the mid-1990s before playing in the Canadian Football League until he moved to coaching in 2001. Nussmeier will work closely with Jalen Hurts to help him get back to 2022-caliber performance.
Sirianni took some of the team’s coaching staff to Geno’s Steaks earlier this month to start working as a team.
Most of the new coaching hires occurred on defense. Christian Parker joins the team as the Defensive Backs Coach and Passing Game Coordinator, and comes to the team from the Denver Broncos where he coached under Fangio. New Senior Defensive Assistant and Defensive Line Coach Clint Hurtt comes to the Eagles from the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent the last two seasons as defensive coordinator. Roy Anderson joins as cornerbacks coach, Joe Kasper joins as safeties coach, and Bobby King joins as inside linebackers coach.
The only other offensive hire is Kyle Valero, hired as an offensive assistant.
The changes reflect the team’s performance over the last season. The defense had the most work needed, and after the bye week, the Eagles routinely gave up 100 or more rushing yards; they gave up almost 400 yards of offense on average since the bye.
