Eagles Host 49ers In NFC Title Game Rematch

Game-Thumbnail

The Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers in one of the most highly anticipated rematches of the season.

The Eagles have been living rent-free in the 49ers heads since January, when the Eagles won a lopsided victory over them in the NFC Championship Game to head to Super Bowl LVII. This game is potentially a NFC Championship Game preview, as both teams are atop their divisions and vying for the number one seed in the NFC. The Eagles are the better team record-wise, but opened as home underdogs against the 49ers. The matchup between 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy and Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts is likely to be a matchup for the ages, which football fans will be talking about for years to come. The 10-1 Eagles, meanwhile, can become the first team to clinch a playoff spot with a win and some help.

Kickoff is set for 4:25 PM ET. Live game footage airs on FOX Sports with Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen on the call.

Injury Report, Inactives, and Player News

Philadelphia Eagles

The following players are inactive for the Eagles:

  • QB Tanner McKee (Emergency 3rd QB)
  • RB Rashaad Penny
  • LB Zach Cunningham
  • G Sua Opeta
  • TE Dallas Goedert

The Eagles listed the following players on their injury report:

  • TE Grant Calcaterra (Ankle) – Questionable
  • DT Fletcher Cox (Groin) – Questionable
  • ILB Zach Cunningham (Hamstring) – Out
  • S Justin Evans (Knee) – Out
  • TE Dallas Goedert (Forearm) – Doubtful

The biggest news last week was T Lane Johnson’s groin injury. Johnson was not listed on the practice report so he should be good to go for this week. Both Cox and Cunningham sustained injuries against the Bills; Cox returned to the game for a while but was ultimately ruled out late in the game. It remains to be seen what will occur with S Justin Evans, as he was activated from injured reserve a few weeks ago. The 21 day practice window is rapidly closing for him. Additionally, Dallas Goedert could return for the game against the Cowboys next week.

The injury report was littered with players who were protected during Wednesday’s walkthrough and Thursday’s practice; the team did a walkthrough on Wednesday so Wednesday’s report was an estimation.

San Francisco 49ers

  • QB Brandon Allen
  • WR Ray-Ray McCloud
  • LB Jalen Graham
  • RB Tyrion Davis-Price

  • OL Ben Bartch

The 49ers listed the following players on their injury report:

  • RB Jordan Mason (Hamstring) – Questionable
  • WR Ray-Ray McCloud (Rib) – Questionable

All three of these players were limited in practice on Friday after not participating Wednesday or Thursday.
